A Qatar Airways plane that was headed for Bali found itself flying the unfriendly skies when a woman discovered her husband was having an affair and her ensuing hysterics caused the flight to be grounded.
The couple was flying from Doha to Bali with their young kids last week when the husband fell asleep and his wife took the opportunity to gently apply his finger to the scanner on his phone.
Once unlocked, the woman scrolled through her husband’s private messages and discovered he was having an affair.
That’s when the frenzies began to fly.
“A lady along with her husband and a child, all Iranian nationals, were offloaded by Qatar [Airways] as the lady passenger (who was intoxicated) misbehaved with crew members in-flight,” an official from India’s Central Industrial Security Force said.
Eyewitnesses said that the woman, who was inebriated, began to yell at her husband, and flight crew was unable to calm her down. This is when the decision was made to ground the flight in Chennai, India, and the family was kicked off. The plane then continued to Bali, surely much to the relief of the rest of its passengers.
“Seeing the situation getting out of hand, the crew decided to offload the woman along with her husband and their child,” an official said to Mail Today. “The pilot diverted the flight to Chennai, where the family was deboarded. The plane went ahead to Bali leaving them in India.”
To complicate things even further, the family was detained in Chennai because they didn’t have visas. They were eventually released and flown back to Doha via Kuala Lumpur.
In response to the Times of India’s request for comment, Qatar Airways said in a statement: “In respect of passenger privacy we do not comment on individual cases.”
