A motorist from Ras Alkhaimah, UAE, has amassed a fine of AED 1,250,000.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, the commander-in-chief of the police department in Ras Al Khaimah stated that the traffic fines were the highest recorded in history, by a single driver in the United Arab Emirates so far.
He mentioned that the radars that are installed on the roads and highways of Ras Al Khaimah have recorded all the fines and that most of the fines that he had been charged with came from speeding violations.
In celebration of Happiness Day, the Ras Al Khaimah police decided to give the motorist a generous 50% discount off his fines, which left the motorist with a AED 625,000 fine.
Major General Al Nuaimi said that the fine reduction brought the man great relief.
Records show that the second highest traffic fines amassed to an amount of AED 250,000. Both drivers have paid their fines in full.
